The Piazza San Marco is the main square in Venice and is simply very often called the “the Piazza”. The square is dominated by a great church dedicated to Saint Mark and is St. Mark’s Basilica. The square also has many Venetian landmarks such as the Clock Tower which was finished in 1499 and also the towering Campanile of St Mark’s Church.

This Venetian Gothic style palace is one of the most recognisable landmarks of Venice. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the city of Venice. The palace was the seat of government since around 810 when it was dedicated that a palace should be built on the site. It is one of the most visited sites in all of Venice still today.
The Rialto Bridge is the oldest of the four bridges that spans across the Grand Canal in Venice. The original wooden bridges which were built on the same location as the present bridge collapsed due to heavy weight and deterioration which led to the constructions of the stone version which was finished in the 16th century and still stands today as it was first built.
This island is the largest island outside the main island group which make up the city of Venice. The island has a church dedicated to Saint George hence the island’s name of San Giorgio Maggiore and is dominated by the bell tower which stands near to it. Nowadays, the island is also home to the Cini Foundation arts centre, library, and an open-air theatre.
This art museum located on the south bank of the Grand Canal exhibits pre-19th century art in Venice and northern Italy. Originally the art academy of Venice, the current museum became independent in the late 19th century. Inside the museum are many well known works from artists including Leonardo Da Vinci’s Drawing of Vitruvian Man.
