European Taster – 8 Day Tour
This European Taster – 8 Day Tour is a great way to see a good part of Europe in a short period of time. This 8 day tour visits many exciting cities allowing groups the opportunity to experience the culture from each country. Two full days in the City of Light – Paris is our starting point of this tour and it exemplifies a modern and historical city with so many things to see and do.
Our tour also takes us to the Swiss city of Lucerne and a tour of the Swiss Alps showcasing some of the best scenery and dramatic views in all of Europe. We will also travel to the Rhine Valley and the German city of Cologne with its impressive cathedral and historic old town.
No European tour would be complete without visiting the Dutch capital- Amsterdam. Learn about the rich history and culture whilst enjoying the canal-lined streets of this great city before visiting Belgium. The tours final stop is in the city of Bruges which is an incredibly well preserved medieval city with historical old town full of fine Belgian treats like chocolate and waffles.

– Located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most well known structures in the world.– It is named after Gustave Eiffel, whose company was in charge of the project.
– The Eiffel Tower is 320 metres (1050 feet) in height.
– The Eiffel Tower is made of iron and weighs around 10000 tonnes.
– Eiffel Tower has had over 250 million visitors since its opening.
– Visitors can climb up stairs to the first two levels or take a lift which also has access to the third and highest level.
The Palace of the Sun King, Louis XIV, which was in built in its current state in the 17th century offers exceptional opportunities for your students to view the magnificent architecture and stunning interior design. Furthermore, the palace offers truly amazing 250-acre gardens which will leave you and your class speechless. The Palace itself houses within its rooms impressive paintings and murals which will astonish all who visit.
TheLouvre Museum or The Louvre is one of the largest museums in the world as well as a historical monument. This central Paris landmark has some 35,000 objects over 60,600 square meters. It is so large, in fact, that seeing every objectonly a few seconds would take you 3 months. Of course, the main exhibits are daVinci’s Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, as well as works from Italian masters such as Raphael and Michelangelo among others. This is a must see for any aspiring artist and students across all key stages.
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, or more commonly called Sacré-Cœur Basilica is a popular landmark on the highest point in the city which offers breath-taking views of the city. Constructed from 1875-1914, it is a double monument, political and cultural, and located in the most rebellious neighbourhood Montmartre.
This sculpture of a mortally-wounded lion commemorates the Swiss Guards who were killed during the 1792 storming of the Tuileries Palace during the French Revolution. It depicts a dying lion, implaed by a spear, covering a shield with the French monarchy’s coat of arms.
This museum exhibits all forms of transport as well as communications. It also contains a large collection of work by Hans erni, a local Lucerne artist. Among its collection are rare space objects which have returned to earth and can be seen such a Eureca, a 4.5 tonne satellite.
The fourth largest lake in Switzerland and incredibly important to the city, it offers stunning views to those looking across it or to those from the top of the nearby mountains.
This covered wooden bridge spans diagonally across the Reuss River in central Lucerne. It was named after the nearby St. Peter’s Chapel and houses paintings within its interior dating back to the 17th century. It is also the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe and the world’s oldest surviving truss bridge and is a symbol of Lucerne.
The Rosengart Collection was the private art collection of Siegfried Rosengart. it is a Classic Modernism Museum with works from artists such as Pablo Picasso, Bonnard, Braque, Cezanne, Chagall, Kadinsky and many more great artists.
This Roman Catholic Church is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne. Its Gothic architecture and its significance to German Catholicism attract millions of tourists each year. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its fascinating story of construction, which lasted more than 600 years, shows the detail of work in every piece of stone laid.
This bridge which crosses the Rhine River is one of Cologne’s most familiar landmarks and the most used railway bridge in Germany. It was originally built in 1911 and was destroyed and demolished during World War II and later rebuilt.
This museum houses a collection of modern art and includes works from Pop Art, Abstract and Surrealism. It has one of the largest Picasso collections in Europe with around 900 works by the artist and features many works by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Today, the museum also houses the most comprehensive collection of early Russian avant-garde artworks outside of Russia.
The most famous house in The Netherlands. Once the home of a young Jewish Wartime diarist, Anne Frank, escaped Nazi persecution for several years before her eventual capture. The house contains her personal belongings and exhibits the life and times of this young girl and her hardships.
This museum celebrates the artist’s life and works and has the largest collection of his works anyplace in the world.. Located in Amsterdam South, close to Stedelijk Museum and the Rijksmuseum, it attracts 1.6 million visitors a year. Here among his work “Sunflowers”, you can also see his “Self-portrait”.
The Dutch National Museum, built in 1800, houses some of the most famous paintings from Dutch masters such as Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hals, among others. Located with walking distance to the Van Gogh Museum.
The main city square in Amsterdam and the place where the city gets its name from. A dam built on the River Amstel in 1270 formed the first connection between settlements on both sides of the river. Through the years, the dam was built upon and eventually had the town hall on it and currently is the location of The Royal Palace and National Monument.
At the Markt you can also find a medieval bell tower, the belfry of Bruges, which is one of the city’s most prominent symbols. It is 83 metres high and has a 366 steps staircase you can access by paying 5€ to have an overwhelming view over the whole city!
This 13th century church is an impressive monument of medieval architecture. It has the second highest clock tower made out of bricks in the world with 122 metres tall! As astounding as it is from the outside, the inside will captivate you as well with marble figures by Michelangelo.
This is an old, 12th century basilica in the city centre of Bruges. According to the old tradition the Count of Flanders brought the relic of the Holy Blood with him after the second crusade, having received it in the Holy Land (1150).
